39th Annual NSW Aboriginal Rugby League Competition

About

The Aboriginal Rugby League Knockout Competition, since its inception in 1971, has developed to become the largest Aboriginal Rugby League event in Australia and perhaps the world. The knockout is seen as the major event in the Indigenous calendar and provides for community people to not only see top class Rugby League played by over 40 Indigenous teams but also see Indigenous NRL players and country stars battle each other to be the annual champion team.

The weekend also gives our people a chance to meet with other family members and close friends at a drug and alcohol free event. Over 10,000 people pass through the gates over the weekend to enjoy Rugby League at its best.

The competition has also acted as a catalyst for many cultural and social programs which have offered significant community benefits.

Once considered only as a sporting event, the competition and associated events can from now on focus on:

• Indigenous Health and well being

• Expanding the cultural opportunities for the whole community

• Closing the gap between Australian communities

• Creating a role model for young aboriginals, to succeed and achieve in sporting, education, economical and cultural ways

• Providing a vehicle for many government agencies to link with the aboriginal communities, and to showcase available services

This event provides an unsurpassed opportunity to showcase your organizations support and commitment to the development of Indigenous Affairs. There are three levels of support available at this years Knockout for organizations, government bodies and individuals.
